When my husband woke me up this morning and told me there was snow on the ground, I didn’t get excited because I’ve seen this before.  It “snows” but by the evening, the snow has melted and the excitement is gone; or the snow disappears while its falling. But TODAY, RIGHT NOW, the SNOW IS STILL HEREEEEE!!!!!!! Do you hear me yelling???? THE SNOW IS STILL HEREEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   AND MORE SNOW IS FALLING!!!!!!!!

It finally snowed today!  I mean it really snowed…in HOUSTON,TX!!!  This is not a place that normally receives snow or temperatures low enough for snow.  Every now and then we might get ice, but its gone by the next day. When there’s promise of snow, the snow would come and go the same day.  No evidence anywhere.

This is SO EXCITING!!!!!!!!  I’ve never lived in a place where we’ve gotten snow and I got to play in it!  Yes, like a big kid I played in the snow…ok I twirled in the snow.  My puppies weren’t feeling it, but mommy was!  The Huz-band was excited…maybe a little eager to get back inside, but excited nonetheless. 😉

Most districts, if not all, have shut down school for a few days, and many other businesses have closed.  Houston and the surrounding communities are not familiar with this type of weather and don’t have all of the equipment necessary to make all roadways safe. This would be challenging and possibly dangerous for school busses.  Residents have been advised to stay put and not leave our homes, for safety precautions.

But can you believe there are parents upset that schools are closed?  They believe schools should be open. Honestly the weather today is a piece of cake and schools shouldn’t be closed down, BUT parents must be understanding of the lack of preparedness our cities have for snow and ice. If we lived in Chicago or Baltimore we would definitely be in school, but those cities are prepared to handle snow and are able to go about their daily activities. We only received about 3-5 inches and everything is on lock! The only people working are doctors, police men, and newscasters.  Stores and restaurants are closed and no one can watch your child but YOU.

Hey Parents! Don’t panic now because you have to watch your child…it’ll be okay.  Teachers have to focus on your child AND 27 other kids in a class. Sometimes more than 27 students, all dealing with different issues from school or whatever drama they bring from home.

You made them, so now enjoy them.  Talk to them. Get to know them. Play their board games or their video games with them. Go make memories with them. Better yet, TODAY, Go Play in the SNOW with them! I know I’m about to!!!!!!
